The key to a healthy lawn!

As the snow has melted over the past couple weeks and the grass starts to emerge, you might be worried about its color. Don’t worry, here is your guide to help restore your lawn to the vibrant green you’re used to seeing.

  1. Clean up debris

Your first step is to ensure you clean up any debris, such as branches, leaves and any dead grass or plants that can smother the growth of new grass. This will improve air circulation, reduce the chances of mold and allow for the sunlight to reach the grass more effectively.

2. Aerate the soil

Winter can cause your soil to become very compacted, especially if we have had heavy snow or heavy rain. Compacted soil restricts root growth and water absorption, making it harder for grass to thrive. By aerating your lawn, it breaks up the compacted soil and allows for nutrients to get to the roots more effectively.

3. Overseeding where necessary

If you have noticed bare spots or thin patches on your lawn, overseeding is a great way to prevent that. Choose a grass seed that matches the type of grass you already have in your yard.
