How we ensure our retaining walls last!

A retaining wall is reinforced structure designed to hold back soil and manage elevation changes on a property. They are commonly used to:

-Prevent soil erosion

-Support sloped landscapes

-Create level areas for patios, walkways or driveways

-Improve drainage and water control

-Add structure and visual appeal to outdoor spaces

The most important part

The largest issue that seems to be the case for most failed retaining walls is the base. Many people focus more on the visual aspect instead of how its built.

A long lasting retaining wall requires:

-Porper excavation

-A compacted base

-Drainage stone behind the wall

-Drain tile or weeping system

Without proper drainage and base preparation, pressure builds up behind the wall—leading to cracking, leaning, or complete failure.

Do retaining walls need permits?

In many areas, retaining walls over a certain height require permits or engineering approval. This is especially true when walls support driveways, structures or are close to property lines. A contractor will know local regulations, be able to built to manufacturer specifications and ensure the wall is safe and compliant.
